Take part in our research!

Help the Reps project grow by sending us your own examples of how you see women being represented, and misrepresented in the media.

Take note of the media world around you. How many women are there? How are they shown? How old are they? Are they leading or supporting? Are they there for what they do or how they look? Keep a running tab of what the media serves up to you and let us know what you find via the form below. We will share this on the Reps Blog and use it for our on-going work.

Whatever area of media interests you, magazines, newspapers, TV, facebook, theatre, radio, comedy, film, pop-up advertising, bus stop bill boards... we want to know what you are finding.
We need to collect both positive and negative examples as evidence for the project, but are also interested in hearing how these representations effect you, how you feel when you view them.

For ideas and suggestions for research go to our ideas page. A selection of clippings are displayed below. Visit the Reps Blog to see the latest submissions by other participants.

Take the Bechdel Movie Test

Picture
The Bechdel Test is a set of simple three questions which one can ask about any movie in order to gauge the presence of active women in it.
  1. Does the film have two named women in it?
  2. Do they talk to each other?
  3. About something other than a man?
